coyotito bennett

Born in 1979 in the Spanish Town, St Catherine, Jamaica, Coyotito Bennett developed his skills by doing charts and posters for his classroom at school events. He graduated as the most outstanding art student from Dunoon Technical High School in 2001. He attended the Edna Manley School of Visual and Performing Arts. By 2002 he entered two pieces of his work in the Jamaica Cultural Development. The pieces were titled “Man With Abeng” and the other “Man With Abeng II”. Each piece received Certificates of Merit.

In 2004 he entered a piece titled ‘Kingston Parish Church’ (A landmark building in Jamaica) and again was awarded a Certificate of Merit. Coyotito was commissioned to paint four large murals depicting planets, stars, moons and asteroids by Cable and Wireless Jamaica Ltd. These were to be displayed in four of their Cyber Caf? locations in Jamaica. He has been a part of several exhibitions in Kingston, Jamaican in 2005, at two of Jamaica’s well-known Art Galleries. He has had his work presented in Trinidad at a Silent Art Auction at a Gallery in St Ann’s, Port-of-Spain. Coyotito’s work has been purchased by Maria Mc Kenzie, wife of the mayor of Kingston, Jamaica, and Dennis Francis, Trinidad and Tobago High Commissioner to Jamaica. His aim is to create a style that is different, unusual and interesting to be appreciated by his viewers.
